Weekend Fun!!

This past weekend my sisters, their husband, me and my husband had some fun this past weekend "junkin".  It is a term that we use because it is looking for things that are antiques but garage sale prices.  We head to Detroit, Maine (I didn't know there was a Detroit, Maine)  The name of this place is called Roller Rink Antique Mall and they had some fun stuff there.  My husband loves the "The Three Stooges" so I had to take a pictures of them.  We then had lunch at "The Eagle's Nest and then headed to Bangor to check out some other places.  I saw a lot that I liked but I am always thinking of where to put things and my house is full.  I love the idea of repurposing so I was looking for frames that I can use in my craftroom for my dies.  I have a couple already that I have put magnetic canvas on and my dies are easy to grab when I need them.  We headed home after Bangor and stopped in Augusta for another shop.  Connie bought a head planter which is beautiful and it was only $18.  I think that was the bargain of the day because we have seen them at Brimfield for $100 or more.  Just a few pictures of some of the other stuff we thought was  fun! Fun weekend for sure!!

Love the busts!

Paper Bag Cards

2 Pockets in front and top
Held closed with ribbon
Here are a couple of different types of paper bag cards.  I was on pinterest and saw these cards! You buy the paper bags at your local craft store or just use the ones at your local supermarket.  I tried both and I liked the ones at the craft store better because they were more crisp and I think a little stronger but both worked!!  Check out this tutorial from Kara. She does a great job  explaining how to do it. The first paper bag has 2 pockets, one in the front and the other at the top.  The second type of the paper bag opens up and also has 2 pockets, one is smaller than the other but so cute!  Both of these types of cards can be used for gift cards and even "cold hard cash"  I really enjoyed making them and they made up quick!  The best thing about them was that you could use your scraps of paper from other projects that you have made!!!  I have a lot of scraps that I have been dying to use them on  something and I found the perfect project  right here!!   The photo below is a picture of the the 2nd type of paper bag card opened up.  Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

50 Candles on your Cake!

Another 50th birthday and another card in the box card!  You have to read the sentiment on the back of the card which is in the picture below because it all ties in together with the fireman and too many candles on your cake!!  My sister's boyfriend is turning 50 next month, so to throw him off guard, we are giving him a surprise birthday party this weekend. I am so proud of myself that I made his card early because usually I am doing this at the last minute. But when you have an idea you run with it.  We, actually, forgot his birthday last year but we will make up for this year with this surprise.  By the time, we finish he will have wished that we all had forgotten it this year!!

The fireman is punch art from Ellen Kemper's blog. She does a great job telling you what to use for punches to make Mr.Fireman and I had tons of fun putting him together.  I made candles from the SU bird punch in the middle and then sizzix's birthday cake and candles for the front.  Check out more pictures below for the sentiment and closer looks of the side of the card.  Happy 50th Birthday Lenny and many more!!

Too cute!

Glitter and Copics

My sister, Chris, from Callalilystudio.blogspot.com recently reminded me of this technique.  We had taken a class in Dover, New Hampshire with Jeanette at Stamped Designs and I wanted to give this a try again.  The instructions are excellent on this video using Elizabeth Crafts products.  It is hard to see but the flowers as well as the background are all micro fine glitter.  The  name of the product I used is called Glitter Ritz. You think you are going to use a lot but you really don't.  Then after the stickers and glitter are applied you color with copic markers.  So pretty!  Anyone would be happy to get these cards!  I just added more bling and it is done.  I am definitely going to give this another try!  Just beautiful!!

50th Birthday

Another birthday building block card for a family member!! My brother-in-law turns 50 this coming weekend and my sister, Andrea and her daughter Emma threw him a surprise birthday party this past weekend at Jimmy-the-Greek Restaurant in Old Orchard Beach.  There were between 55-60 people there and Renn was definitely surprised!!  Check out some pictures below of the party.  I know that he loves to race cars so I made him this card with a sentiment that reads "Just remember once you are over the hill, you pick up speed". The punch art VW car was used with SU punches, large and extra large oval, word window, circle and modern label.  I do have the instructions for the type of card on a previous blog post.

The party was a lot of fun but the best part was surprising Renn!!  Happy Birthday Renn! and  Good job Andrea and Emma!!

Look this way Renn!
