August Birthdays

I have made a few of these Prima Doll Tags for birthday cards this summer.  Here is another one. Love the way the red shows up and I think it is a birthday color!  I used a bottle cap for the Birthday Girl sentiment and the big white flower is from Michael's dollar bin.  Cheery Lynn Designs Floral Flourish die is in the background which is a favorite of mine.  It is a wonder it isn't worn out!    I also made the box to put the tag in which I found on pinterest and I put the link to it in a previous post.  If you need it let me know and I will post it for you.  The ribbon at the bottom of the tag is from SU and the border punch is from MS.  I sponged with Tim Holtz distressed inks around the edges of the entire tag.   By the way, I think I have made so many of these because I loved paper dolls as a kid and I don't think I have gotten over them yet.  Love that I can still do it under the guise of creativity!!!

Today would have been my Dad's 87th birthday.  He died in Dec 2010 and my family misses him every day but today is special because of his birthday.  He loved to celebrate with family no matter the occasion but it did like it when it was focused on him.   (and who doesn't)   I can't believe it has been 4 years.  Happy Birthday Dad!! Love you

Camera Shutter Card

This is a different type of card for me.  Again I saw this card in a tutorial by Frenchie.  I thought it was cute and it reminded me of a camera because of the shutter revealing the sentiment.  So cute! and easy!  The paper that I used escapes me but there are prima flowers and MS punch for the leaf.

It opens like a gatefold card after you take off the belly band.  The sentiment is revealed by just opening the closing the card.  The leaves on the inside are from Spellbinders.  There isn't a lot of room for a long sentiment but you can always put it on the back of the card.  Not sure yet, who will get this card but September is another big month of birthdays in our family. Loved making this card!

A gymnast birthday

My boss' daughter's birthday, Mia has been doing gymnastics for a few years now so I thought how cute would it be to make her on a balance beam!!  I found a ballerina on pinterest and then looked around and found on splitcoast  this one. All the punches are from SU.  The body is the small tag punch, word window punch is the arms and legs.  The head is just the circle punch with the hair being the circle punch cut in half.  I used the corner punch which I punched twice to create the white "V" for decoration on the body.  The balance beam is just embossed and sponged with Tim Holtz distressed ink.  The funky fold/center fold card was perfect for this !

The inside reads Happy Birthday to someone who is always in perfect form!  Happy Birthday Mia!!

Graphic 45 Birthday!

I haven't made a center fold/funky fold card in a while and I love Graphic 45 so I combined the two for a card to my brother-in-law!!!  I just got the sailboat die from Die-namics and wanted to use it.  I also used MS punch for the anchor and sizzix dies for the seagull and wave.

The inside reads "I  sea you have a birthday!"  Love it!  The crab is a MS punch and the lobster and shells are from sizzix both on the front and inside the card.   I think I said in an earlier post that August is a busy month for cards and it really is.  I still have about 3 more to go so I better get busy!!
Thanks for stopping by!

A Plaid Wedding

My daughter asked me to make a wedding card for her roommate that is getting married next week.  Tyler and his fiance really like plaid so I used graphic 45 (by the sea collection) plaid paper.  It is the prettiest plaid!  This card was on pinterest and it is all templates that make up a tuxedo.  I changed it up a little.  First with the plaid for a shirt and made a flap in the back for the sentiment.  Click here to download the templates for this tux.

The flap is measured at 2 3/4 x 5 1/2.  I scored it on the  2 3/4 side at 1/2 inch which made the flap.  The entire card measures 5 x 6.    I haven't made a card in a while that uses templates so this was fun to make!  Thanks for stopping by!

Baby's Bib

Love this cute baby card that I saw on pinterest. It is punch art and it was a quick one!  The inside says "snips and snails and puppy dog tails....."  I went to a baby shower this past weekend and, of course, I waited to the last minute to make a card.  I am loving that mom's-to-be now (mostly) are wanting to know what they are having so it is great to be able to pick the colors.  Emily will be a great mother and she looks wonderful!!

Emily had a cute and adorable helper!!  She was so excited to see all the gifts that Emily opened!  I really enjoyed her reaction to every gift!

Here is the gift that I actually made for the baby!  I knitted a blue baby blanket.  Thank you Cindy Esty for getting me back into knitting.  I made a sweater for my son when he was a baby and it took me years to finish. Obviously, he has never worn it.  I am saving it for his son!!  It was a fun weekend with the baby shower and also Friday my sister, her husband, my husband and I went to Canobie Lake Park and enjoyed fun in the sun on some scary rides and then not so scary rides.  I have never been and I would recommend it.  Lovely setting on beautiful Canobie Lake!  Thanks Connie and Russ for taking us!  Check out some fun below!!

This ride was unbelievable!
View from the top!
Kids ride but loved the display!

Record Birthday

Today is my only brother's birthday and he and I are the same age for about 10 days.  I saw this card on pinterest and thought it would be cute for him.  He loves baseball and golf and I have done both of these themes for his cards in the past so I decided to find something else he likes, music!!  I used the sizzix die for the base card but added a tab for more room to add the sentiment.  See below more pictures.

Behind the record, I added my brother's name, Hal.  This is the flap that I also added for more room for sentiments on the card.  The paper is from Michael's with colorful music notes.

The music notes are from Memory box.  It is hard to see but the sentiment on the right reads "Don't break any record celebrating your 58th birthday.  Have a great one!  The sentiment on the left reads,
Forget about the past,  you can't change it. Forget about the future, you can't predict it.  Forget about the present, I didn't get you one!   Happy Birthday Hal!!
