October Projects

I saw a picture of these small book folded angels ornaments on facebook and I thought I can do that! I used a paperback book and cut it in half with an X-acto knife. I was able to make these 4 angels from 1 book. Then added the head/beads with twine and the wings are from one page with is folded accordion style. The wings are honey colored ink from Ranger (Tim Holtz). Love them!

Another project that my sisters and I have been doing is jewelry framed art using old jewelry. Love this snowman framed using old watch faces.  I also did a framed paper flowers with jewelry which is pictured below. I would call this mixed media, LOL!

Another Craft Fair

Sisters' Designs is getting ready for another craft fair which is the first Saturday in November at the Italian Heritage Center. I have made some Christmas vignettes. This one was started with wooden blocks that I got from the Dollar Tree. I painted them and added the letters. Love how this one came out!

This one is a wooden sleigh with horse that I have had for many many Christmases. I glued it to a little riser and decorated with ribbon, wreath and some bells.

These little houses light up and I added a bench with some snow. Had to add a Christmas tree in the background. It was fun making these little vignettes. These 3 projects are headed to our Craft Fair. It will be here before you know it.

Our Annual Kentucky Derby!

This is the centerpiece for the table on Kentucky Derby Day which was May 3rd.  I made the favors from a tutorial which is called tent boxes but I made the flap go over the top for the closure.  The Gold image is from my Cricut. I added the roses and the bows.  I think it came out great!

Here is a picture of the table for the 8 of us! Plus this past winter our friends and I found Kentucky Derby glasses in flea markets in Florida. The picture below is just one of the glasses we found but we did end up with 9 of them. None of us like Mint Julips so we made gin and tonics! Our friend Lynne, makes the best Gin & Tonics!  Thank you!

Happy Halloween!

It is a beautiful day here in Maine on Halloween! It is suppose to get up to the low 70's. The lucky little globins that come to our house tonight will not have to wear coats over their cute costumes. My sisters and I are getting ready for our Craft Fair this weekend at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland. We have done this fair for the past 6 or 7 years. It is always so busy especially the line for the Italian food that they sell. Here are a few things, I have been working on--
The Turkey is a gift box which is so cute. His head comes off! It is fun to reuse items like the sewing drawer for a centerpiece. "Let It Snow" wall art is perfect for this time of year because in the next few weeks it could snow! Come on over to the Craft Fair and check off names on your Christmas list!

Christmas Craft Fair

I have a new obsession, the busted frame. This one is for the craft fair that my sisters and I are doing in about 2 weeks in Portland, Maine. Love making them. The picture is from a Christmas Gift bag that I had in my stash. They are pretty easy to do but it does have a few steps to follow and I found this on Pinterest. There are quite a few tutorials on youtube.
This layered Christmas scene is the first one I have done with my cricut. It is not lighted because of all the layers but I love how it came out. My second red truck item. Everyone loves a red truck. It really shows up. So come on over to the Italian Heritage Center's food and craft fair in Portland Maine on Saturday, November 2nd from 9-3pm. It is always a busy fair especially for the Italian cookies and breads!

Nautical Busted Canvas

Graphic 45's beach/nautical themed paper collection is one of my favorites and I have used it for so many cards and projects. This busted canvas is another project that I just had to use it. It was great for putting seashells for embellishments because it actually protects them a little because of the curled canvas. Sometimes I'm afraid to use shells on projects because they get broken. Love how this came out and I'm not sure that I am going to sell or keep. Big decision!!
My son's birthday is coming up and he and his wife bought an outside pizza oven. The pizza that they made for my husband and I when we visited them in May was terrific. I thought what a great card to make for his birthday! I love this pop up slide card! I actually have made it without a die but this card was made with a die. Happiest of birthdays Eric!

Greenhouse for his Birthday!

Our good friend is building a greenhouse and he is really excited about it. I'll have to share pictures when he is done so I made him a greenhouse birthday card. It was made with a window die and Stampin up stamps. The style is a tent card and I added the awning which was the perfect spot for his birthday greeting and the sentiment is on the back. Below are more pictures of the back and a closer look inside the greenhouse. Happy Birthday Brian!
I have seen these book folded Christmas trees and angels. There are so many different images that you can make with these folded books but here is a couple that I thought was cute to do.
There are tutorials on youtube and Pinterest to make these. It is a great craft to do in front of the TV because it does take some patience. It is best to use a book that has at least 200 pages. I am working on a candle which is a little different in the folding but I am loving how it is coming out. Enjoy!

May is Derby Day!

We had a fun Kentucky Derby celebration! And the winner is...
I didn't get a good picture of the favors I made but did get a picture of the beautiful table that our friend set up for us! Thank you Lynne! Your table was beautiful!
Here are the favors on the table. I made the horse from my Cricut and just glued it on a cube box that I made.
I finished another Dollar tree cube frame for my son and his wife with pictures from their wedding. I am loving that it serves 2 purposes because it holds pictures and also flowers, whether they are artificial or real. Love this idea so much! I am sure I will be making more of these for family celebrations!

Happy April

Love these triple diamond cards! They fold up and can be put in a 5x7 envelope. This style is so great for displaying your card especially for a big occasion like this one! Lenny's 60th birthday! I have made them before and below is a picture of a couple other ones I have made for friend's birthday!
My DIY project that I recent made is great for a centerpiece for special occasions. I saw this on Pinterest and got the frames from the Dollar Tree. The pictures that I used are Maine lighthouses. I'm thinking of adding feet to the bottom just to elevate it a little, but not sure yet.

Spring is near!

This is just a quick post to finish up my birthday cards for March. A little bumble bee with some cute flowers for a birthday card! How appropriate for a friend's birthday just after the first day of spring. The little bee is from Sizzix. I have had this Sizzix die for a while and wanted to use it again. It is adorable! Happy Birthday Julia! Also wanted to show this project that I made with everything from the Dollar Tree Store except the vinyl words and the candlesticks. I have decided to keep it for myself because I LOVE the way this came out. The idea came from Pinterest!

Easter Bunny Centerpiece

I thought I needed an Easter centerpiece for the table this year. I made this cute little fabric bunny. The pattern I used was on Pinterest and was so easy to do. The eggs are wooden which are painted and then decorated with lace and flowers. I had a cute little bunny and just added it to the centerpiece. I'm really happy the way it came out! For some reason I am still working on some Christmas items. They happen to be Christmas trees. The first one was a challenge from a friend to see if I could copy it. This first picture is the picture she sent me...
This is the one that I did. I used IOD moulds that I have and it came out pretty good. My Christmas tree Wall art!
This second Christmas tree are 2 inch wooden blocks. They are painted and glued together. Added some decoration and words from my Cricut machine. This was an easy and fun project to do!

Valentine Centerpiece & Birthdays

We had some friends over for dinner and I wanted to make a centerpiece for the table. I used a container that I had from a gift and painted it red and white. It needed a couple of coats of paint for both the red and white colors. The felt hearts around the rim of the container I made myself with felt and a heart steel die from sizzix. The heart shapes were from the dollar store and I decoupaged them with music sheets I had. Then I just decorated them and put them on a stick. Loved the way it came out. Here is a closer look...
My Valentine card to my husband is a book style card from Mixed up crafts. It was pretty easy just cut, score and then glue!
Graphic 45 Love notes is the paper collection that I used for this card. Happy Valentine's Day. One last birthday card I made for a friend's birthday that was just before Valentine's Day and as you can see he is a golfer!
This is an upright Z fold or double easel card. I used a stamp set from Stampin up for the golfer, ball and clubs. Then I used some dies and punches for the different shapes. Happy Birthday Tom!
