A Blizzard Birthday!

We are having a blizzard here in the northeast today!  I will post some pictures later but right now we have gotten a foot so far and more to come!!  So because of the weather and most everyone is heeding the warning from our weatherman, most people are staying home.  I love it because I was able to make a birthday card for a good friend who turns 50 today!!  His party was last Saturday but because of a snowstorm it was cancelled and rescheduled for this Saturday which, unfortunately,  my husband and I won't be able to attend.  Will get this card in the mail tomorrow for him.  He is a high school soccer coach so he will definitely appreciate this card!!  The soccer ball is the embossing folder and I just colored in some of the hexagons black.  Love my Die-namics grass die!! I use it all the time. The background is the cuttlebug "happy birthday" folder.   Happy 50th Birthday Todd!!  Enjoy your Blizzard Birthday!!!

3 Hearts for One!

3 heart easel card
Loving these heart easel cards!  I made this one for my husband to give him on Valentine's Day!!  I used shiny red paper for all 3 hearts and then just decorated each one differently.  The tutorial for the 3 heart easel card is on an earlier post from this month.  I used Nestabilities heart dies for all the hearts except the silver filigree heart on the big heart.  That silver filigree heart is from Cheery Lynn designs, so pretty!!

Largest heart
Here is a closer look at the big heart that is in the back using the filigree heart die with the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment.  The middle heart is decorated with a bow/key and then a small heart with the words "I Love you".   Check out the smallest heart below.  Valentine's Day will be here before you know it.  Have fun making these fun and easy heart cards!

My Goofy!

To my Goofball!
My husband's birthday is tomorrow. Just a little about him, he loves telling jokes and he always has one to tell!!  His memory is unbelievable when it comes to telling jokes but not so good when he is looking for his wallet!  I asked him what his favorite Disney character and he told me Goofy.  I remembered that I saw a punch art Goofy on pinterest.  The picture I found on pinterest didn't give the different punches that they used so I used what I thought would work.  The punches I used were all from Stampin up.  I used the large oval for the snout and the small oval for the jaw, lip and tongue. The eyes are actually nestabilities oval. The ears are the tab punch.  The hat is the oval punch, and the wide oval punch.    The inside sentiment I wrote to my goofball!!!  He loves to tease me about cards I make but he really does think it is amazing.  Love him to pieces!! Happy Birthday Husband!!!  Love you!

Busy January 2015

Hey Betty
I think January is as busy as December was.  I have a few birthday cards to make this month starting with this one.  A girlfriend of high school turns 60 at the end of this week.   She is the first of many of my friends from high school.  A bunch of us turn 60 in 2015!!!  This is a big year!!  Betti loves Betty Boop and I have made a Betty Boop card for her before but not for her birthday.  Saw this on pinterest using the top note die from Sizzix/SU.  So clever!

Inside sentiment for a 60 year old

This past week we found out that my son's girlfriend from high school, grandfather died.  My son was very close to him during his high school and college years so it was very sad for him.  His name is Jack Deering and our whole family became very close because Jack would call us from time to time to "check in" on Eric. He had a wonderful sense of humor.   He adored Eric and also, our daughter, Lindsey.  He was a very caring man and loved giving advise to young adults.  Jack will surely be missed.  Such a great guy!! Below is a sympathy card for the family.

You will be missed!

Triple Heart Easel Card

This is an fun Valentine easel card to make.  I found this tutorial for the heart easel card on pinterest.  It is a good tutorial and explains it very well.   I am going to make a few more for maybe wedding anniversary as well as Valentines!!  It is also a great card to mail because it will fold down into an oversize envelope.  In the tutorial she used SU framelits but I used my nestabilities and it worked just as well.  As long as you use graduated sizes it will be fine.  I love the cupids I got last year (I think it is from Die-namics).  The cupids are cut out with glossy red paper!  Need some shine!!   Check out my pictures below for inside, back and side of the card.

This is a great Valentine's Day card!!  Love it and fun to make and decorate!!  Valentine's day will be here before you know it!!

Pink for the Baby!

I have finished a pink baby blanket for Nathaniel's,  my nephew, baby daughter who is scheduled to arrive in February.  My sister and Nathaniel's mother-in-law are giving a shower for Kristin next weekend! I started this blanket after Christmas and just finished it this week.    It was a pretty simple pattern but since I haven't been knitting in a while it took me longer than most, I am sure!  Glad I started it when I did because it was nice having a blanket over my lap while I knitted since it has been so cold here in the northeast.  Yesterday morning my car registered -8 and by the time I headed home it had warmed up to 14!!!  It has been a while it has been that cold here in Maine.  We are used to snow but not these cold temperatures!!  Today it was up 28 degrees--much better!!

Here is the baby card to go with the blanket.  This is a cute little punch art baby that I saw on pinterest.  I used circle punches for the head, body and diaper and the arms are legs are the tab punch (shortened a little).  Small circle punches for the curl and eyes as well as the pacifier.

The inside of the card reads "A new little someone to kiss and to love a happy addition from heaven above".  Thought this was an adorable poem for a new little baby.  She will definitely be loved!!
