Beautiful Wedding, Beautiful Couple

Last weekend was my nephew's, Nathaniel and his fiance, Kristin's Wedding day!  It was a gorgeous day and the setting was at the York Harbor Inn in  York, Maine.  It was a gorgeous wedding and a beautiful setting!!  The Wedding was on Sunday, June 22nd at 4 pm.  My sister's grandson, Ezra, was the ring-bearer and he was so adorable.  He did a fantastic job, taking care of those wedding rings.  He had them in a treasure chest!!  This is his third wedding in 2 years, he has become a professional!!  The colors of the wedding were brown (chocolate) and teal, so beautiful! We were so happy to share this beautiful day with them!! Just lovely!!  Happy Wedding Day to Nathaniel and Kristin Wallace! See you after your honeymoon!  They were off to Jamaica Monday morning bright and early!

Father's Day Grill

Tomorrow is Father's Day and I wanted to make a card for my husband.  Mark is the one that does the grilling at our house so why not show him how much I appreciate it, especially since I hate doing it.  I saw this punch art grill on Pinterest and I had the apron sizzix diecut so I thought they would go perfect together. I remember my father had a barbecue apron that said "#1 Dad" on the front of it.  He wore it all the time in the summer when he was grilling.  The design of this card is a Z fold.  It measures 8 1/2 X 5 and it is scored on the long side at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4.  The grill is a circle, cut in half and hinged with a silver brad.  I used SU swirls sizzlet for the smoke.  The legs are the tab punch and I used the tab punch again for the inside of the grill and for the hamburger. When the card is closed, see below, most of the apron is hidden.  Thanks for stopping by.

Retiring Leo

This time of year is not only weddings and graduations but also retirement parties!  A very good music teacher at my husband's school is retiring after 30 years at Waterboro Elementary School.  He was there 1 year before my husband started at the school. My husband, Mark, has also decided to retire this year as it has been a hard year with budget cuts and having 37 years in education, it was time for new blood.

Leo's party was last night and it was a lot of fun!  I saw this card in the box on pinterest.  I have made a lot of the standard size ones but this one is longer.  The measurement for cutting is 11 1/2 x 4 1/8 inches and then score on the long side at 3 7/8, 5 1/2, 9 3/8 and 11 inches, then turn to the short side and score at 2 1/8. This link will tell you the rest of the measurements for the inserts.  The design of the card I also saw on pinterest and wanted to make it a piano since it would be so perfect for Leo. He plays many instruments and also gives piano lessons to children.

Mark helped me with the sentiment on the back which also was perfect because Leo is going to start his piano tuning business in his retirement years.  We wish the best for Leo and his family in his retirement. He certainly deserves it. Some pictures from the party below......

Kristin's Bridal Shower Card

I am still making these scallop tag punch cards.  Love the scallop tag punch from SU and the card that you can make from it.  I put a link on an earlier post to make this type of card. This one is for Kristin's who is my nephew's fiance.  Their wedding is coming in June and we are all praying for good weather.  Here in Maine sometimes June can be an "iffy" month as far as weather is concerned. They want to have the ceremony outside if possible.

The dress is from SU's thinlet's dress and embossed with a sizzix EF. I used turquoise for the ribbon around the dress and for the bow on the bouquet.   Turquoise and brown are the colors that Kristin has picked for her wedding, such a pretty combination.  The paper is Graphic 45 from their "Couture" collection.

On the inside of the card I made a pocket to put money for the gift.  White glitter paper was used for the memory box die to the right of the card.  The shower was fun and Kristin got a lot of great things especially for her honeymoon!!  Happy Wedding Day Kristin and Nathaniel!!!

Glitter Flowers for Mom

Today is my mother's 85th birthday!!  I used Elizabeth Craft's glitter/sticker technique for her card!  She absolutely loves flowers so this is perfect!  I used my new Circle Flip-it die from Sizzix. The flowers were colored with copic markers and added the sentiments with nestabilities circle and scallop circles.

I added a flap so that you could open up the card to see the sentiment. Found the sentiment on the internet which is perfect and I love that it rhymes.  The dies are from Memory box and Dee's Distinctive.  I didn't take a picture of the back but another love of my mother's is shoes and I had a die of a high-heel which is from Marianne's Creatables.  The high-heel is a recent purchase from ebay.

The paper I used is from SU.  I can't remember the name but it is beautiful.  I have used this design paper on a number of projects.  It is so pretty and spring-like.  Headed to dinner with mom and siblings to celebrate her birthday.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Minnie's Mother's Day!

Stampin up's new tag punch called Scallop Tag Topper Punch was used for My Mom's card this year.  I love this new punch is so versatile. My mother has a collection of Minnies so I decided to make her a card with Minnie and Mickey!! I saw this card on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try.  Click HERE for the video on how this card was done. Just a little measuring and then just decorate!

The inside gives you plenty of space for the sentiment and more decorating.  I had some ribbon with Minnie's ears and bow left over from some scrapbooking it did last year so used it for the tie.  The dies for Mickey and Minnieare from ProvoCraft.

I made a couple more of these Tag Topper cards but haven't finished decorating them.  May is a busy card month with birthdays and next weekend we have a bridal shower in the family so many ways to use these cards. Thanks for looking!!

Singing Mice Punch art

This is just a quick post on some punch art that I did for a card in a box with singing mice.  Someone asked if I would let them know what punches I used.  I took a picture and here are the punches.

All Stampin Up punches
The ornament punch is the head, the butterfly is the ears, small oval is the mouth, tab punch are the arms and a small circle punch is the nose.  You can use the large and small oval punch for the tail or sometimes a hand cut it myself.

I hand cut the tooth.  In this picture I glued the arms to the end of the ornament punch since I didn't have anything to glue the arms to such as card in the box or just a plain card.  Just be sure when you cut the book out the it lays flat so that you can put it in a envelope and then I would glue the arms to the book first and then to the card.  Just a little tip.

Sorry that this took me so long to do this but this spring has been a busy time in the Petersen household just getting spring cleaning, outdoor painting and cleaning up the yard.  Finally, we are getting warmer temperature in the Northeast.  Happy Spring!!
