Slatted Baskets for Easter

Pink, purple and yellow Easter baskets for my daughter and her roommates.  Splitcoast Stampers has this tutorial for a slatted basket on their website and it is easy peasy to do.  I decorated each one a little different even the handles.  I haven't filled them yet because I don't want to buy the candy until the last minute or I will eat it.  I used Graphic 45 paper, SU design paper and My Mind's eye paper. Just about any double sided paper will do.  I would like to try solid colored paper for the base and then design paper for the slats which I think would also be very pretty!  Check out some individual pictures of the baskets below.  Happy Easter and thanks for stopping by!

Twin Rose Birthday

Last week I bought this Elizabeth Craft rose die and I love it!!  So beautiful.  I needed to make a card with this die immediately.  The picture doesn't do the colors justice but the roses are a light pink and deeper pink background with a silver glitter outline.  The rose at the top for the stopper is Tim Holtz ceramic pink rose that I inked pink.  Love the way this upright Z fold stands up.  The paper is from My Mind's eye which is a diagonal gray/pink combo and pink rose/gray background, very pretty! Can't go wrong with gray/pink and green!!  I haven't decorated the inside yet because I am not sure who I am going to send this card but I will.  Check out the pictures below of this card and I added a picture of Elizabeth Craft rose die in the package to find it easier.  Just love it!  I see myself using this die a lot!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Cupcake

I have been wanting to make this type of card for a while. It is called an upright Z fold card.  Have been looking all over for the instructions, although, it is pretty easy to figure out but wanted the exact scoring measurements.  So I finally found some very good instructions here.  Stamp owl made a Christmas card but I wanted to do a birthday card for a high school friend who's birthday is next week so I am headed to the Post Office to get it in the mail. Like she did, I used Elizabeth Craft's stickers and colored with copics for the front of the card.  The background is embossed with the "happy birthday" Cuttlebug EF.  The paper line I used is from "My Mind's Eye".  It has a fabric feel to it.  Just love the colors!

The inside of the card is a sentiment I had from my stash that says "Your Special Day" with a drink to celebrate!  Betti always post a drink, usually a martini, on Friday night of her drink on Facebook and they always look yummy!  I think she will get the connection.  LOL!  The upper left hand corner is the stopper to hold the card when it stands up and I had a cupcake brad which was perfect!

The Back of the card was a fun sentiment and some Martha Stewart punch balloons.  This was a fun card to make and I am sure I will make more.  It gives you a lot of space for sentiments and decorating for whatever occasion the card is.  Happy Birthday Betti!  Enjoy your special day!!

Happy 30th Eric!

My little guy!
I think I always put this picture of Eric when his birthday comes around on my blog but it is my favorite picture of him!  He was celebrating his 3rd birthday in this picture. Tomorrow he will be 30! Where did the time go?  I put more recent pictures of him below but also wanted to share my card that I made for him.  It is a Pop n cut card created by Karen Burniston.  I love the chair and I used faux
Relax
leather paper for the chair.  I can picture Eric sitting there relaxing with his soccer ball and cat.  I hope he gets a "kick" out of it!

I used the spellbinders banner dies and spelled out "Eric Happy Birthday" and on the back of the chair it says "Relax".  I found some paper at Michael's that was a tiger print and used that for the rug.  He and his girlfriend, Lauren have 2 cats but I liked the cat with only one.  The flooring is a sizzix embossing folder which looks like hardwood and just sponged a little chocolate chip ink on it.  The front of the card is a picture of Eric and the bicycle die is from  Memory box which is Eric's mode of transportation mostly in San Francisco!  Throughout the card is little touches of Eric.  This was a lot of fun to make and create.  Happy 30th Birthday Eric!  We miss you here in Maine and love you very much!

Warmest Holiday Wishes

Last year I was going to try and make one Christmas card a week.  Well, I fell short of that but decided I would try and make the same commitment this year.  So here goes my first card for this year. The background Poinsetta paper is from My Mind's Eye.  The big red bow is from a box of candy that my husband and I got from a friend last Christmas.  I thought it was so pretty I couldn't throw it away so I recycled it on a card!!!  The sentiment is from SU Christmas Cardinal with nestabilities.  The punch art poinsetta is from Spellbinders Bauble Blossoms One and I used by Fanciful Flourishes from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The leaves on the poinsetta are from the SU blossoms punch.  I embossed the sentiment with gold and added a large pearl in the center of the flower.

Now that I have started my Christmas cards, let's see if I can keep it going!  I know it is going to be hard since the weather is beautiful and summer is just around the corner!  I love summer in Maine!!!  Enjoy!
