Busted Canvas Technique

I have been watching some tutorials on youtube on how to make these "Busted Canvas" projects and had to give it a try. I used IOD transfers, which are always beautiful, for the focal point which is on drop cloth and then I painted the canvas. The back of the canvas has designer paper that I mod podged and then cut to show it on the front of the canvas. It is rolled and then hot glued to keep it where it is placed. This project is on a bigger canvas which measures 20 x 16. I have some more ideas for more of these "Busted Canvas" but will do a small version of this technique. It would be fun to do a nautical, fall and Christmas design. Love doing this technique!

My good friend's granddaughter has a birthday tomorrow and I wanted to show you the card I made for her. She loves her 3 cats so how appropriate is this card? She is going to be 13 and loves crafts so I hope she enjoys this one! Happy Birthday Chloe!

Hello July!

This wedding card is for my daughter who is attending a wedding on July 4th! What a great day for a wedding celebration complete with fireworks! This is Becca Feeken's diorama, Happily Ever After dies. It makes such beautiful cards!

I made a pocket with the sentiment on the outside so you can put a gift card, cash or check for the bride and groom. These style cards can be folded and put into a 6x6 envelope but because of the embellishments I added, I decided make a small box and put the card in it.

The box measures 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 and fits perfectly! I have been busy repurposing some items that I have had for a while. Painting the items and then putting some transfers on them and I love the way them came out. I put some of these items and facebook and was able to sell the picnic basket! Love that people love them!

By The Sea Birthday

Today is a high school friend's birthday and she loves the ocean! She is a retired teacher and her vacations are always spend at the ocean. Her birthday card this year is this triple panel pop up card from Mixed up Crafts. I used Graphic 45's By the Sea collection which is always fun to use. I have actually made 3 of these for friend's and family. This card measures 5x7 which is a great size for a card and gives you a lot of space to put your sentiment and, of course, decorate! In my previous post, I mentioned that Sisters Designs is getting ready for another craft fair at the end of April. Pictured below are some projects that I have been working on for the fair.

These rolling pins I bought at Goodwill and decorated them with IOD transfers and the words are done with my Cricut. I love how they came out and I think I am going to sell them but sometimes it is hard to part with my creations! Love them!

Now these bookends were given to me and they were all black. I don't have a before picture (which I wish I did!) but here is the after pictures when I painted them with Waverly mineral chalk paint. It is done with the baking soda technique to give it a more dimensional effect. I added some embellishments such as metal giraffes, cardstock from Graphic 45 and then I did seal it. Love how these came out too. These will be at the craft fair. Because tomorrow is April 1st I better get busy for the fair. I still have a few more things to do!

Winter Birthdays

Here are a couple of cards that I made for some friends birthdays in the past month.

These polar bears from MFT are the cutest! Love using them for birthday cards and this card is a Z-fold card for a special friend's birthday! This stamp set is great for Christmas cards too.

This card is called a Mountain Fold Card. The tutorial is from Frenchie that I saw on Pinterest. She does a great job explaining it and here is the Graphic 45 Ocean Blue is one of my favorite paper collections and I used it for this card as Lynn is a beach girl! My sisters and I are getting ready for another craft fair in April so I wanted to show you some of the things that I have been working on for the fair. I love finding things from vintage stores and Goodwill to repurpose. Magazine holders is one of my latest passions to repurpose because you can use them for other things than magazines as you will see below. The kitchen isn't the only place you can use them. You can also use them in the bathroom for holding towels or just use them to hold floral arrangements. Wish us luck on our fair next month!

First Day of Autumn!

My sister's and I are getting ready for our annual craft fair at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland, Maine on Saturday, November 5th! This is one of the items that will be for sale. I painted the wood black (found it at Goodwill for $2) and then used IOD's transfers! IOD moulds and transfers are beautiful and so easy to use. Several people have said that it looks like the flowers were painted. I agree but they were not!

This is an item I worked on last month for the fair too! It is made from an oatmeal container. You can use it as a gift box or a centerpiece for your Christmas table/party! I love it when I can recycle something like these 2 items!

Lastly, I have seen so many of these upside down wine glasses made into candle holders. Making little vignettes in the bottom of these candle holders are fun to do. Any theme can work for these cute wineglasses/candle holders. Again I got the wine glasses at Goodwill for $2. Recycle is the theme today! Summer is here!

I have started some fun projects for our Etsy store. This one is a wooden cigar box and I used Graphic 45's Lady's Diary paper collection. I added some lace and a pocket inside the box.

The box measures about 9x8 and it is on our Etsy shop. It came out beautifully!

Here is a washboard that I purchased at Brimfield and then painted. I added some floral and modge podged the sign at the top. Perfect for the Laundry Room. I can say that because I have one that I made in my Laundry Room! LOL!

My third project is a metal pocket with metal handles that I painted and put floral transfers on it. I love how it came out. Added some artifical flowers that really "pops"! Classic Birthday

Lately, I have been making a lot of pop up cards for birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions. This one is for my brother-in-law that loves old cars. I put him in the driver's seat and Phillis, my sister, in the passenger seat. I used Tim Holtz's jalopy sizzix die. I think his favorite style car is a VW (which I think I have done before with punch art) but I thought this would be a fun alternative. Happy Birthday Cary!

Four Panel Pop Out Card

Today is my youngest sister and her husband's 7th Anniversary. Wanted to make a different style card and found this style on Pinterest. It was pretty easy to do and loved decorating it.

I used Graphic 45 paper and lots of punches and dies. I love using the sticker that says "This is us". Adrianne is a big fan of the show as well as me! The sentiment for the card is on the back.

Happy Anniversary Adrianne and Lenny! I have been working on some projects, not to sell but for me! Found this magazine holder at Brimfield for $8 and I am using it in my kitchen now for some cookie sheets, muffin tins and cake pans to ease up some cupboard space. The IOD transfers are so beautiful! Love them!

Fun Fold Birthday Card

This is a hexagon pinwheel/tower card that I made for a good friend's birthday! He loves the water as he and his wife used to have a boat. Love decorating the different panels of this card. The border punch is ocean waves. I have also made the quadruple pinwheel/tower card which is another variation of this style card. Below are a few more pictures of this card's panels.

I have been working on a small chair that I got at Goodwill for $6.00 that said "Time Out Chair". I needed something for my tall indoor plant. First, I painted and waxed it and then stamped the cute bees and added some floral transfers. I love how it came out. Below are before and after pictures of the chair.
