Retirement Cards

I have been busy making 2  of these cards for friends that are retiring now. I made this card about a year ago for my a friend of my daughter's and I thought it would make a cool retirement card.  Both of the retirees have pools so I know they will get a kick out of this card.  The inside of this card reads: Good-bye Tension, Hello Pension!!!   For those of you who haven't seen this card before the punches are as follows: Hair, bangs, and glasses-scallop punch, arms-photo corner punch, head- 1 1/4 circle punch, body-tab punch, legs-word window punch. The floating tube was spellbinders circle dies.  Love her belly button ring and pearls. She is adorable!

Adoption Cards x 2

Captain Alan

Adoption Day Cards were fun to make this year.  I did punch art for both of them.  This one is for an 8-year old, blind boy so I added a lot of textures and die cuts.  The eye patch, mustache, earrings and left eye are all textured so that Alan could feel them.  I saw this pirate card on pinterest and had to make it for him because he is very much into pirates now.  I have made a lot of faces with the Top Note die from SU and it is always fun to do.  The kerchief with the next to largest circle nestabilities and the tail of the kerchief is done with spellbinders tags.  The teeth are from the word window punch from SU and the mustache is one of the largest heart nestabilities. The nose is the tag punch from SU. Check out the inside.....

The sentiment reads, "Celebrating with joy the wonderful treasure that you are!  Happy Adoption Day!".
I made the palm tree with a die cut from Dee's Distinctive which I have used a lot and the base of the palm is free hand with cuttlebug embossing folder.  The treasure chest and pirate boat are stickers.

Chief Aaron

 The second card I made I really have to thank my sister Chris for the idea.  Check out her card here. She made a car and when I was told that Aaron really like firetrucks I thought I would try one. Aaron is 4 years old and I thought he would get a kick out this firetruck.  This is a trifold card with the Top Note die again for the front of the truck and the back of the truck I made to fit the inside section of the card.  The ladder was done free hand but afterwards I realized I could have used sizzix's fence die. The hose was done free hand and the nozzle is just the small slot punch from SU.  The hydrant  is done with a rectangle, large oval punch, the word window, and circle punches. The helmet (in the front seat) is large and small oval punches.

I also wanted to share with you (again I have to thank Chris for this idea) my new magnetic board in my craftroom. I am putting the dies that I use a lot so that they are easier to grab on the frame.  The frame, which I love, I got at "Just the Thing" in Dover NH and added the magnetic sheets from Joann's to hold dies. Love, love, love this idea.  I may have to do a whole wall of different frames to hold on my dies because I do have quite a few but for now it will have to be the ones a use a lot.  Thanks again, Chris!!

"O Say Can You See"

Friday night we headed to the Sea Dogs game in Portland to hear Waterboro Elementary School kids sing the National Anthem before the game.  They did a great job and were so cute!  It definitely was a hot evening for the last day in May but fun.  I was looking around to try and find my husband because he didn't know where I was sitting as he was waiting for all the kids and teachers to arrive since he had their tickets and look who I saw!  See below....

My sister Connie and her husband Russ were there watching the game too!!  I was sitting between homeplate and 3rd base and they were sitting between homeplate and 1st base--so they were across from us.  It was a fun evening and below are some more pictures of the game with events for kids inbetween innings and Slugger singing his rendition of "Take me out to the Ball Game".  By the way, the Sea Dogs won!!!  Yeah!!

Bendi-Fold Card

I saw this card on pinterest and watched the tutorial on splitcoast on how to make this new type of card.  Please check out this tutorial by Bibiana.  She does a great job showing how it is done. I used Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish for the very front with some small little flowers.  Memory box dies for the bird, branch and leaves as well as the tree in the inner most fold.  I wanted to put a cat or dog running in the field but I didn't have one but that will have to be my next purchase.  MS punch for the fence with more flowers. Check out below for more pictures of the inside of the card and the sentiment for a Happy Birthday to someone special.  It is great because it does fold down and fits into a 4 3/4 x 6 1/2 envelope. Birthday Tag

Making this birthday tag was a lot of fun! Julie Nutting's doll stamps from Prima marketing are so cute.  I feel like I am 8 years old again playing with paper dolls. I think I am going to hold onto this one and give it to my daughter in September for her birthday.

I used copic markers to color in her dress but next time I am going to try and use a different papers for her dress like Julie did here.  Check out Julie Nutting's video for some great ideas. The tag measures 9 1/4 x 3 3/4.  Decorating the tag, I used prima flowers, memory box die, Brenda Walton's memory pockets and some bling for her headband and necklace. The sentiment says "all love is sweet".  I will add a "Happy Birthday" banner for Lindsey's birthday later.  I can't wait to make another one!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is a special day for all  mothers. I wanted to wish my mom a Happy Mother's Day.  This is a picture of my mother at her 50th Wedding Anniversary Party that all her children gave my Dad and her in1998.  My Mom and Dad had 8 children and were very, very busy as you can imagine.  She is a very special lady!  Love you Mom!

We are celebrating with her today at a luncheon today.  She is a self taught pianist so I thought the card I made for her is appropriate. 

I saw this on pinterest and immediately thought of my mom.  I used Stampin up products such as the tab and label punch, as well as the Top Note die and sentiment.  The fern punch is a Martha Stewart punch and the leaf vine is from Dee's Distinctively (which is my new favorite leaf die).  The flowers are from Prima.

I Can't Believe It!

My sisters and I are planning a 50th birthday party for my younger sister, Andrea!  I can't believe she is turning 50 this summer.  We are having the party early because her actual 50th birthday isn't until August but we wanted to surprise her. She definitely will be surprised since we are having the party 3 months ahead.  My sister, Phillis, will be here from Florida and my mom's birthday is May 20th so we thought this would be a good way to get her there without any suspicions and just tell her it is a party for Mom!!

The picture doesn't show the color very well, I think, because it is behind glass but I used 20 different pictures of Andrea.  I wanted to show her as a young little girl (school pictures) and as she is today, a lovely mother and wife!  I used a lot of different elements like stickers, sizzix, nestabilities, punches and chipboard. This was definitely a lot of fun to make and I hope she will love it!  She was such a little cutie growing up!!
